New to Netflix in May 2019: The best kids,
tweens and teens movies to stream
Original movie 'Wine Country,' directed by Amy Poehler, and classic comedy 'Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery' are coming to Netflix in May. USA TODAY
May belongs to tweens and teens.
Netflix has plenty to keep the toddler and younger kids busy — don't get me wrong.
"Cupcake & Dino" returns for a second season to help their eccentric neighbors with their cheery brand of help. A new animated show called "Chip & Potato" debuts on May 17. Chip is a lovable pug who starts her first day of kindergarten with help from her secret mouse friend, Potato.
Watch for "Casper" and "Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat" this month, too.
But older kids seem to have it best. Not only do seasons of "Riverdale" and "The Flash" return, but Netflix introduces two movies with young casts who work out relationships with each other and in the process learn about themselves. Of course.
"The Last Summer" features KJ APA from "Riverdale" and Maia Mitchell from "Good Trouble" in a movie about almost-adults in the summer before they go away to college.
Junior lifeguards compete for the ultimate tower at Malibu beach against an experienced group in "Malibu Rescue."
Throw in the 1988 "Hairspray" starring Ricki Lake for fun, and "See You Yesterday" about teens who go back in time to stop their brother's shooting death for some dark drama, and it's a well-rounded May.
